BUKENYA JAMES
A 9 year old boy from Uganda made to dream.
24 JANUARY 2011
Bukenya James lives with his parents, 1 brother and 3 sisters. His parents struggle to provide for the family. His father is a boda boda rider and her mother stays home taking care of him. Despite their efforts, it is difficult to meet the family’s needs.
James is growing up in a poor community of Wabununu in southern Uganda. Family homes are made of mud bricks and rusted metallic roofing. Their diet consists mainly of sweet potatoes, plantain and bread from corn meal. Cassava is also a staple during times when food is scarce. The climate is tropical, with a dry season and a rainy season. The community is located on a wooded savanna and the terrain is very flat.
James is physically disabled, her mother noticed James’s inability to support himself at 6 months he can neither talk no hear. Mother says she has taken James to local health units but nothing significant has been achieved yet. His hands got stiff so he cannot do anything physical at home apart from resting on the ground.
Your sponsorship commitment will help provide James and his community with improved health through providing necessary physical and orthopedic interventions, disease prevention, and mosquito nets to combat malaria. Your support will provide literacy programs for mothers and their children, the most vulnerable in the community. Wells will be rehabilitated to produce safe, clean water, and youth will receive vocational training. And our caring staff will reflect Christ’s love to these impoverished communities through their actions and lives.
