NANKYA EASTER

A 13 year old girl from Southern Uganda born to prosper.

                            17TH APRIL 2008

Easter lives with her mother and 5 sisters. Her father died at age of 3 and her single mother struggles to provide for the family.

Easter was born a normal child and at 3 months she got cerebral malaria that impaired both her physical and mental abilities. She cannot stand or talk rather moves by crawling. Growing up in a poor community in southern Uganda has been hard since resources are limited and disabled children are looked at as a curse. Family homes are made of mud bricks and metallic sheet roofing. Their diet consists mainly of plantain, bread from corn meal, Cassava is also a staple during times when food is scarce. The climate is tropical, with a dry season and a rainy season. The community is located on a wooded savanna and the terrain is very flat.

Easter is not in school at this time because her mother cannot afford school fees for special needs children. She helps at home by being good. She likes to play and welcomes visitors.

Your sponsorship commitment will help provide Easter and his community with wheel chairs to improve mobility of physically impaired kids and have access to education to be able to read and write. Disease prevention and mosquito nets to combat malaria. Your support will provide literacy programs for mothers and their children, the most vulnerable in the community. Wells will be rehabilitated to produce safe, clean water, and youth will receive vocational training. And our caring staff will reflect Christ’s love to these children through their actions and lives.
