NAKAWUBA VANESSA
A 9 year old disabled child from Uganda full of hope
21 AUGUST 2011
Vanessa a mentally and physically disabled girl lives with her disabled grandmother and 4 other elder siblings. Her grandmother struggle to provide for the family. Her mother died when she was 2 and half years and her father left for Kampala the capital of Uganda but never came back. Other relatives help provide food to the family. Despite their efforts, it is difficult to meet the family’s needs.
Vanessa is growing up in a rural farming community of wakiso in central Uganda. A typical family home is constructed of heavy mud bricks with rusted iron roof. Bread made from corn meal, cassava products, plantains and vegetable soup are staples of the local diet. At 8 months Vanessa got severe cerebral malaria that that affected her brain and entire physical well being. She can’t stand but only crawls on the ground. She cannot eat or visit toilet by herself.
Vanessa is not school because schools for disabled children are far in big cities and her disabled grandmother who basically does nothing cannot afford She helps at home by sweeping her surroundings. She is in satisfactory health.
Your sponsorship commitment will help provide Vanessa and her community with access to clean water, physical and orthopedic therapy for disabled children and vitamins, as well as educational materials to help children learn to read. Malaria prevention training will reduce its adverse effects on children under five years, while initiatives on preventing HIV and AIDS will improve community well-being. And through our partnership with local churches, children will learn about the love of Jesus Christ
