TUMWINE GIDEON

A 4 year old boy from Southern Uganda with possibilities

                                11 MARCH 2016

Gideon lives with his parents and 1 brother. His parents struggle to provide for the family. His father is a bodaboda rider and his mother is a housewife. Despite their efforts, it is difficult to meet the family’s needs.

Gideon is growing up in a poor community in southern Uganda. Family homes are made of mud and sticks with rusted metallic roofing. Their diet consists mainly of  bread made from corn meal , cassava and matooke. Millet is also a staple during times when food is scarce. The climate is tropical, with a dry season and a rainy season. The community is located on a burnt savanna and the terrain is very flat.

Gideon is not like other children because he has a mental retardation illness and cannot talk.  He often gets seizures while at home.

He is not in school at this time because the mother cannot afford school for special needs children like him. He likes to play with dolls and sometimes plays alone. He is in satisfactory health.

Your sponsorship commitment will help provide Gideon and his community with improved health through vitamins, disease prevention, and mosquito nets to combat malaria. Your support will provide literacy programs for mothers and their children, the most vulnerable in the community. Wells will be rehabilitated to produce safe, clean water, and special needs children will visit specialists for required treatment. And our caring staff will reflect Christ’s love to these children through their actions and lives.
